Over thirty years ago a quiet little company in Magnolia, Arkansas, began manufacturing the industry's finest picnic tables and benches. Founder Charles Taylor had been an innovator and leader in the aluminum industry for years and now had become an entrepreneur with the establishment of Southern Aluminum.
Mr. Taylor realized the strengths aluminum offered and the potential it had for building durable products. So, the dream began. He started with tables and benches and in 1981, Southern Aluminum revolutionized the folding table industry by introducing the Alulite® lightweight folding banquet table. Our innovative products set the industry 'on its ear' and, subsequently, other companies began introducing "lightweight" tables using alternative materials, but none were as strong and durable as aluminum.
At the requests of our customers, Southern Aluminum designed an upscale table for training rooms, meeting rooms, and conference centers--the iDesign Series. Soon after the introduction of the iDesign Series table we added Alulite® portable staging to our product line.
In 2004, Southern Aluminum introduced MardiGras Tables, our banquet table line that features a 1" edge profile to fit standard skirt clips. 2005 saw the innovation of the Scissor Pedestal table, designed to maximize storage space; the T2 Table, which easily converts from a training table to a full-sized banquet table; and the Swirl finish, a unique finish which allows our customers to save money on table linens.
